aboutus
Here at Helping Hands Food Pantry, we offer assistance to any family in our community that may be experiencing hard times.

Each month, with the help of our donors, partners and volunteers we help over 200 families in our area facing food insecurity.

In the Late 1970's anyone in need of food came to St. Charles Borromo's rectory. The food was donated by the parishioners of the church and the secretary bagged the food that at that time was in the basement of the rectory.

In 1995 a small pantry was constructed in a corner of Parish Hall. This became the Helping Hands Food Pantry of St. Charles Borromeo Church.

The Food Pantry is staffed by volunteers . Food is purchased from the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York in Latham , and the Food Bank of Hudson Valley in Cornwall. Besides buying food, the Food Pantry also receives donations of cash, food, and non-perishable items from the parishioners, local organizations and churches of the area.

Meet Jean LeRose
Director
Jean has been the Director at Helping Hands Food Pantry since 2005.
Her passion for helping those in need comes from her 34 years of working as an 8th grade science teacher in the Wallkill School District

"Being a teacher you could see where certain kids needed help. I realized that things could be so bad for kids and they were hurting at home. When I retired from teaching I was drawn to the pantry because I knew they helped the needy families in our area"

Since then, there has been no looking back for Jean and the support the pantry provides the community continues to grow.

Thank you Jean for all you do!
